Today I talked much more than I wanted to. I talked to my daughter because her mother is away so I'm lone parenting. I took her out for breakfast so I had to speak to the people in the cafe to order and pay. That was plenty.

My problem is, I've talked to so few people since 2005 that I've lost my social skills. I can do brief conversations with strangers e.g. 'nice weather isn't it', 'busy in the shop today isn't it', 'hi postman, thanks for the parcel,' etc.

But anything more than that, I get bemused stares, whispering behind my back, sudden accusations of 'saying horrible things.' Whatever those horrible things are, I've no idea. So I'm giving up on talking to people.

I'm sorry if I get you mixed up with other people, I'm not good at telling people apart. Just remind me of our last conversation then I'll know who you are.
