How do to talk to some about something I want to?

I never know how to introduce a topic to a conversation. Whether we have been talking for a while or just starting I never know how to do it. I feel like I'll just come of as rude or that they won't want to talk. And I just don't think I'd be able to do it right. Especially when whenever I do talk about something I talk too much and dot let them talk
