Nikolas Cruz should have received the Death penalty

I've been watching some youtube videos about the Trial and Sentencing of Nikolas Cruz but this guy murdered 17 people and f*****g enjoyed it.

I'm autistic. I have mental and emotional problems. I feel like society has slighted me and is s**t but it is wrong to murder people like he did. And, on top of that he was looking up child porn. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

And, those victim impact statements. Wow! Cruz deserved the death penalty.

I will sidestep the issue of whether or not there should be a death penalty by saying...

ANY one deserves the death penalty then...yes...he would be a person who would deserve it. He even earned a place on the express line IMHO.

Except maybe he is the kinda perp for whom death is the lesser punishment. Being incarcerated without the freedom to kill again for decades might be a jworse punishment for him. Ted Bundy actually moved to Florida BECAUSE it had the death penalty. No one is sure why, but apparently he knew his career couldnt continue forever- so he preferred that the authorities give him a quick end. Maybe. Who knows?

Bundy killed in a number of death penalty states, even if they were less active then Florida.

I believe people like him will literally sexually get off to the memories of the slaughter.

He will be old and in prison and remember the scene fondly.

I think in instances like that, the victims deserve the perpetrator be put down.

I would have a narrow definition for death penalty. I think people who enjoyed the killings should get it, as well as people who their continued existence may cause others to get killed should get it.

So Saddam Hussein makes sense - had he been put in prison somewhere there would be innocent people blown up in the name of getting him released and back in power. Same with people like Osama, had he been caught.

But those are rare - far more common are people like the family in Ohio that killed another family by shooting them while they slept. It was cold, planned, and they got away with it for a while.

The human brain has one little weird quirk - when it comes to revenge, we all turn into psychopaths. I believe this was an evolutionary train evolved so that common non psychopath people could respond to psychopaths living among us. That urge to hang someone who just killed 17 kids is not something we should ignore - I strongly believe we evolved that urge for damn good reasons. We seem to be unique in the animal kingdom in having members of it that seem to want to kill all of their own species for pleasure. I know there are other animals that kill their own species, but I would argue thats often for mating purposes.

Best to forget about him, and remember the victims instead.

Unless you don't know the difference between right and wrong and there are circumstances in which this is true then I think choice is a heavy factor in what actions a person will take.

I was made fun of and treated like s**t when I was younger. I couldn't get a job in I.T out of college and I felt like I was lied to about what it took to succeed in I.T. and how much of an high in demand field it was.

I was angry and filled with hate. I still am.

But.....

I chose! I chose to not hurt people like Nick did. I said NO!

It was morally wrong and it was irrational.

I still choose to say an absolute no to doing anything like that.

So....

When an opportunity presented itself I left the USA and got a job in China. I admit, it wasn't easy and still is not easy.

On things like this personal responsibility is correct.

Cruz, should be made to take responsibility and be accountable for what he has done.

Yes, he has had a sh***y childhood and so has others.

Fnord and I don't see eye to eye on many things and never will but on this him and I agree that this is wrong.

Finally, he was searching for child porn as well so no.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the death penalty, since there's always the possibility (however slim) of executing an innocent person.

But in cases of heinous crimes where they can be no possible doubt as to the criminal's culpability (like with a school shooting), I'm okay with it being used.

Modern death sentences in the US involve decades in prison prior to execution, if they are even ever executed as it is common for them to die of natural causes while on death row for decades. It basically is a life sentence in practice with the main differences being that they are in an extremely strict special housing unit during their stay and, most importantly, that there is a threat of the state legally killing them at some point. He is young enough and his crime horrific and famous enough though, that he would most likely be one of those exicuted and it would probably take considerably less time then most cases, especially since there is no question as to if he is guilty as there is in many other cases.

I don't believe that lethal injection is appropriate for executing people. They make it into some kind of twisted faux medical procedure in this strange effort to try and hide from what it is. I firmly believe that some people need to be put down, but it should be through methods like beheading, hanging, shooting, impaling, gibliting, flaying, boiling, etc..

I feel also that the punishment should somewhat mach the crime.

I don’t like the death penalty…..but Cruz is the poster boy for a person who deserves it.

People just can’t go around murdering people because they were bullied in school. If everybody did what Cruz did because of bullying, we wouldn’t have a species.

He won’t last long in prison unless he is in protective custody.
He will most likely wish he was dead.

I want to ask you all something.

If Nikolas Cruz was naturally evil or naturally a bad seed then can something that is naturally evil or a bad seed choose to be anything else other then evil or a bad seed?

I've been thinking about the nature of evil and free will and I'm wondering if punishment in of itself is just at all. Is one's will truthfully free or is it based in circumstance?
