Eight people shot, one person killed in another shooting in California

Eight people have been shot and one person has died in California's third major shooting incident in three days.

Police said there was "a shooting between several individuals"

Police were called to a petrol station in Oakland, California, just before 6pm on Monday night local time.

They did not say if there had been any arrests.

An Oakland Police Department (OPD) spokesperson said seven of the victims were "listed in stable condition".

The OPD wrote on Facebook officers were dispatched "to investigate a ShotSpotter activation".

"During the course of the investigation, officers learned there was a shooting between several individuals," it wrote.

"Officers arrived on scene and located several casings but did not locate any victims on scene.
