Faux News hosts knowing lied in Trump's favor
Excerpt from Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch rejected election conspiracy theories, Dominion lawsuit documents show | CNN Business, March 7, 2023
A trove of text messages, emails, and other material from Fox News executives and on-air personalities were made public Tuesday as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the right-wing channel.
Among the the hundreds of pages of previously unreleased documents include repeated statements from Fox Corporation chairman Rupert Murdoch rejecting conspiracy theories about Dominion that his own network promoted after the 2020 election. And Internal Fox News emails and messages — also made public Tuesday — further show how Fox News’ staff privately dismissed some of the election conspiracies that were promoted on-air.
Dominion has alleged in its lawsuit that during the 2020 presidential election the right-wing talk channel “recklessly disregarded the truth” and pushed various pro-Donald Trump conspiracy theories about the election technology company because “the lies were good for Fox’s business.”
In a statement Tuesday, Fox News accused Dominion of distortions, misinformation and misattributing quotes as part of an attempt to “smear Fox News and trample on free speech and freedom of the press.”
Dominion on Tuesday said, “the emails, texts, and deposition testimony speak for themselves.”
“We welcome all scrutiny of our evidence because it all leads to the same place — Fox knowingly spread lies causing enormous damage to an American company,” Dominion said.
Months after the 2020 presidential election, and two days before the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, Tucker Carlson wrote in a text message that he hated then-President Donald Trump “passionately,” according to the newly released court documents.
“We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights,” Carlson wrote on Jan 4, 2021, the filings show. “I truly can’t wait.”
“I hate him passionately,” the Fox host continued. “I blew up at Peter Navarro today in frustration. I actually like Peter. But I can’t handle much more of this.”
“That’s the last four years,” Carlson added. “We’re all pretending we’ve got a lot to show for it, because admitting what a disaster it’s been is too tough to digest. But come on. There isn’t really an upside to Trump.”
The text messages reveal that Carlson was harshly critical of Trump in private despite regularly expressing support for the former president on his Fox News primetime show and suggesting the 2020 election could have been stolen from him.
“He was pushing voting fraud stuff. I have no doubt there was fraud. But at this point, Trump and Lin and Powell have so discredited their own case, and the rest of us to some extent, that it’s infuriating. Absolutely enrages me,” Carlson wrote.
Days later, on Jan. 6, 2021, Carlson wrote in a text message to his producer, Alex Pfeiffer that Trump was “a demonic force, a destroyer.”
“But he’s not going to destroy us,” Carlson wrote.
In one Nov. 11, 2020 text message exchange, Carlson said Trump’s decision to snub Biden’s inauguration was “hard to believe. So destructive.”
Carlson added that Trump’s post-election behavior was “disgusting. I’m trying to look away.”

NO WAI!?
Shocking.
Nah, not really. You'd have to be pretty thick to believe all the nonsense spewed on faux news.
It is nice to see the carlson does have a sane bone in his body, though, via his texts privately slamming trumplestiltskin for the pos he really is. That's something. Still doesn't make him a good person, though.

Judge willing to force Rupert Murdoch to testify in Fox News-Dominion trial
Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis said Wednesday at a public hearing that lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems would need to issue trial subpoenas to force their testimony.
"I would not quash it, and I would compel them to come," he said. "It would be my discretion that they come."
Dominion's attorneys asked the court to compel live testimony from the Murdochs; former House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., who sits on the board of Fox Corp.; and Viet Dinh, a Fox Corp. executive, in a letter to the court Wednesday. All four can be compelled to testify, Davis said.
n a filing Tuesday, attorneys for Fox News agreed to let hosts Tucker Carlson, Maria Bartiromo, Lou Dobbs, Jeanine Pirro and Sean Hannity testify live.
Dominion’s attorneys are eager to force the Murdochs to testify because their involvement in Fox News’ election coverage is a key component of Dominion’s case against Fox Corp., the network's parent company.

Ironic, is it not?
Mr. Trump is one record as having referred to all media outlets as delivering "Fake News", when his own favorite media outlet -- which favored Mr. Trump's every act and word -- was spreading lies in Mr. Trump's favor.
Sad.

Maybe Rupert Murdock will be remembered as Trump's Josef Goebbels.

I have an intense urge to stand face-to-face with a crowd of Trump fanatics and tell them all, "I told you so!". The trouble is, I cannot find any such person in person, and the on-line Trump fanatics I used to know are nowhere to be found. Are they ashamed/embarrassed? Are they all in prison? Or did they all just come to their senses and repent of their pasts?

Maybe they’re busy still tallying up how many hard earned dollars they donated to a “billionaire,” grifter?

You know, quantifying how big of a sucker trump took them for. Something like that.

Fox News sanctioned for withholding evidence in Dominion defamation case
According to a person present in the courtroom, lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems played recordings Fox News producer Abby Grossberg made during 2020, which were not handed over to Dominion's lawyers during discovery.
Grossberg, a former producer for Fox hosts Maria Bartiromo and Tucker Carlson, has sued Fox News and said her deposition was coerced. In an amended filing Tuesday, she said she had recorded conversations with Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and others.
Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis on Wednesday sanctioned Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corp., for withholding evidence in the Dominion defamation suit, and said he's considering further investigation and censure.

Dominion and Fox News reach $787.5 million settlement in defamation lawsuit
“Fox has admitted to telling lies,” John Poulos, Dominion CEO, said at a news conference after the trial ended.
"Money is accountability," said Stephen Shackelford Jr., the attorney scheduled to give opening statements for Dominion on Tuesday.
Fox News, in a statement, said it acknowledged "the court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false."
The resolution came after the jury had been sat but before opening statements began.
"The parties have resolved their case," Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis said Tuesday afternoon, informing the jurors of the settlement. "That means your service is done and I’m going to excuse you. Sorry about making you wait."
Lawyers and media sat waiting in the courtroom for more than two hours after opening statements were scheduled to begin on Tuesday afternoon. Davis re-entered the courtroom just before 4 p.m. to announce the settlement with the lead attorneys on the case rushing in after him.
